Neutral
How the heck do you get this thing into neutral? I can only do it by turning the car off when it's running, but then opening the door puts it into park.

Easy, ignition on, pull lever back until it shows N, display will give you a warning. As soon as you shut the ignition down, it goes into park.

if its in D just push up once, not all the way up, if muscle memory serves me well

just a half push up or down will get it into Neutral. Very easy to do.
