I just run without a front plate, IF they pull me over it's just a $20 non-moving violation ticket, no points, not reported on a driving record. I'll pay that every month over putting holes in my car and making the front end ugly, have yet to get a ticket with this car though.

Anything to not get pulled to the side is a plus. Once you are pulled there is always a chance of them hitting you up on something.
Each state is different.

it was an extra $100 (missing plate) in Chicago when I got ticketed for something else (parking violation, speeding, armed robbery, etc)

Yup , I have my plate on, I'm in NY also,you can get a ticket parked with no front plate or an obstructed plate.
I have tint also and my service advisor told me starting this year any car with illegal tint they won't pass inspection ,they gave them tools to actually read the tint like the cops have , I believe this is just for ny state, I drove my entire life with tint now there gonna force me with the gold fish bowl look

Having black seat make the tint look darker..
So we will not be able to lower the car as these kids are taking it too far

I feel your pain 10speed. I am a fellow resident of the dysfunctional state of New York. Strangely enough, dark tint (less than 70% light transmittance) is allowed anywhere (save the windshield) on 1991 and older cars, but only on the back window of newer cars. SUV's, vans, pickups can dark tint anything behind the front door glass, including the back door glass if i read over the new regulations correctly.

Heres the thing with tint , the glass comes from the factory slightly tinted ,if you put tint that might be legal will fail because of the tinted glass, so you might as well go 20% as it looks the best imho , you would have to go so light it wouldn't pay to even tint it .
