Wheel fitment question/advice

What is the smallest rim size and largest possible tire I can fit on my 2006 CLS55 on the stock ride height? I live in NY and the roads are so god dam atrocious I've bent or cracked multiple rims multiple times (stock 5 spoke 19 inch alloys) and one of them is finally bent beyond repair. I'm looking to buy a whole new set of rims. Any and all help is appreciated!

i believe largest u can fit is 22 inch but on small tires, mine is on 20 inch rims, and tires front 245/35/20 back 275/35/20, couldn't fit more higher, 35 is max on 20 inch rims. 35 is good height for that kind of road.

I want a smaller rim if possible and a larger tire. 35 profile height has not been working for me in NY. I've bent/cracked the stock rims 9 times hence why I want a smaller and stronger rim.

i think smallest is 16 inch, with 60 or 55 height. but wouldn't be good if u like to have fun on full throttle you'll lose grip.
also can be fittet 17 inch with 50 or 45 height, 18 with 45 or 40.

I don't think a 16 inch would clear the brake calipers. What kind of rims do you run? If you have 20's and don't have problems I might be looking at this wrong and I should get a stronger set of rims

it's on stock amg rims, didn't had problems yet with 35. i was thinking about replacing them with 19, but at last i decided buy higher tires (35), it was on 30 and made some problems. in live difference is big between 35 and 30,

I appreciate the input on this. I am currently running a 30 series in the front and i was looking to move to a 35. I guess I should ask what size rim / offset you are rolling on to fit these tire sizes?

im currently Running 35 front and 40 rear on the 19inch 5-spoke alloys and I'm having major bending problems on the front rims. I'm going to see if can try and find a 40 for the front... if it will even fit.

I'm on 9.5x20 up front and 10.5x20 out back.
30 series tires all around. This definitely adds to the "feel" of the road.
ie - i feel every bump, dip, crack, etc.

yeah that's one of the reasons I don't want to upgrade my rim size I want to upgrade my tire profile

Tirerack has charts with tire outside diameter, 18" rims will fit if you don't have performance package brakes. It is the ball joint over the front tire that limits you, not ride height.
