The Ultimate SLR: The McLaren MSO

The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren was something of an odd duck in the super car world. It was a flashy, fast car, sure, but it wasn’t built to be a track-day assassin like the Carrera GT or Ferrari’s Enzo. It was fast, let there be no question about that, but it wasn’t perfect.

Which is why McLaren attempted to perfect it. They snagged parts from the several different variants of the SLR and worked them into the Mclaren Edition. The twitchy steering of the SLR is mitigated with a re-engineered steering linkage, for instance. McLaren raised the rates on the suspension too to help calm the car’s handling. Still, no amount of tinkering is going to change the way the car is built. The 640 horsepower of the SLR is a handful… Not like that makes it less desirable.
