The Mercedes G65 AMG is Coming to Stomp on Squirrels

In the world of Mercedes AMGs, nothing is more ostentatious or belligerently amazing as the Geländewagen. Its boxy shape that hasn’t changed since WWII signals money like nobody’s business, and a penchant for dubbing them out. However, while here in the States we get the G63 version, with its paltry 5.5L twin-turbo V8 making 544 horsepower, the rest of the world can have the V12 version that makes a grand spectacle at 612 horsepower.

It’s being reported, though, that Mercedes is preparing to bring the mansion on wheels with the big motor to our shores.

Finally!

Nothing is said about the reasoning behind it, but I have a sneaking suspicion the big bosses saw how fast those 6x6s went, and decided they could do a limited run of the G65 here to test the waters again.

If greenlit, the G65 will likely come around to dealers near you sometime in 2016. Although the current G63 carries a price tag of $135,000, it’s likely the G65 with its upgrades will double that figure, but when you have 737 lb-ft of torque at your disposal, are you really going to care how much it costs?
