Next E63 AMG to “Make the Biggest Leap Ever,” Get 9-Speed Trans
You gotta love when execs actually let the “secrets” flow. At the launch of the Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe, Car and Driver got chummy with AMG’s CEO, Tobias Moers, and got him talking about future products, upcoming tech improvements, and the status of the AMG GT.
Talkative Tobias first spilled on AMG’s mid-size performance sedan, saying, “The upcoming AMG E63 will make the biggest leap ever.” He detailed that it’ll have a 9-speed transmission, something not currently found in the AMG lineup, as well as the C63 S Coupe’s electronically controlled rear differential.
So what about an AMG hypercar? Well, the CEO denied that’s coming, but expect some new uses of a twin-turbocharged V12 (see: AWD).
