Mercedes-AMG Reveals 2018 GT and GT-C Roadster at Paris Auto Show
The 2016 Paris Auto Show has brought us another announcement from Mercedes-AMG in the form of the AMG GT roadster and GT-C roadster. It wasn’t really any surprise that this open top car was coming, however, two levels of performance were announced. The AMG GT roadster carries over the well-known power-train from the coupe version, though the GT-C actually slots above the current GT-S in terms of its ability to go fast. They will be on showroom floors in late 2017 as a 2018 model.
AMG is shifting their focus from all-out horsepower machines, and taking their game directly to Porsche. The GT-C roadster is likely going to be paired up with the Porsche 911 Turbo in future comparison tests. That said, a GT-C coupe version will eventually show up in the lineup. With a lineup ranging from GT, to GT-S, to GT-C, both coupe and convertible aficionados will have plenty of flavors to choose from.
If you’re looking for even more speed, AMG also announced plans to build a hypercar with technology borrowed and developed from their Formula 1 team.
