Mercedes Twitter Trolls Man’s Request for Free Car
Not even Mercedes is above a good joke on Twitter.
The thing about posting stuff on social media is that you never know what type of response you might get.
Although some responses are less predictable than others.
Take, for example, 20-year-old Twitter user Abdinoor from Maine, who took to the social network to try to get Mercedes-Benz to give him a new car. He did so by asking the carmaker how many retweets it would take for them to deliver such a unicorn.
Abdinoor’s request was actually inspired by some kid who aimed to get a year of free Wendy’s nuggets by garnering 18 million retweets. And while Abdinoor’s request might seem like a bigger stretch than a year’s worth of fried chicken bits, it did (surprisingly) elicit a response from Mercedes, as detailed below.

Abdinoor quickly went to work, pulling in 5,000 retweets in only a few hours. Mercedes-Benz then responded saying, “We appreciate your effort so much! We’re clearing the road and handing it over. Here’s your brand, new Mercedes-Benz.” And they attached the photo below…
Clearly, Mercedes had no intention of actually handing Abdinoor a car. But apparently, he didn’t catch onto the joke right away. His response to the Mercedes tweet? “OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH. You guys are literally the best. Do you need my information like address and stuff?”
Sensing that Abdinoor didn’t get the joke, Mercedes responded with the following tweet…
For those unaware, a DM is a direct message. Clever, right?
Well, unless you’re Abdinoor, who didn’t find it very funny at all…
Really? Bad for the Mercedes brand?
