Dear Mercedes, we accept your apology, and thank you for redeeming yourselves.

You might recall the Mercedes-AMG GT Concept, which was unveiled at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. We mean, how could you not? It most likely haunted you in your sleep for a good day or two.

Now, just a short four weeks after Mercedes revealed their ugliest concept ever, they’ve redeemed themselves. Please meet the Concept A Sedan, one of their most forward-thinking, sleek, and stunning concepts vehicles ever designed.

Concept A

The new concept was recently introduced at the Shanghai Auto Show. According to Mercedes, this sedan follows something they call “Aesthetics A.” It’s apparently some sort of sculpture design palette, which will be further demonstrated in upcoming vehicles.

“Our Concept A Sedan shows that the time of creases is over,” says Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer Daimler AG. “With its perfect proportions and a sensual treatment of surfaces with reduced lines, it is the next milestone of ‘Sensual Purity’ and has the potential to introduce a new design era.”

“Sensual Purity?” Uh, sure, why not?! Like most modern, high-end sedans, the coupe-like silhouette dominates the overall design. And a higher beltline with larger windows grants the Concept A Sedan a “high-tech gangster look.” Even the most untrained eye will notice the front end’s resemblance to the AMG GT, which leads us to believe the wide and aggressive grille design will stick around for a while. Not that we’re complaining or anything.

Overall, the Concept A Sedan is a huge step forward for the three-pointed star, even if this is just a show car. All we can say is that we’re glad we didn’t have to deal with the Mercedes-AMG GT Concept for very long!

Do you agree?
