Mercedes-Benz Rolls Out ‘Car Subscription’ Service of Its Own This June

Mercedes Benz Collection Subscription Service

Philly and Nashville residents will be the first to experience the subscription service as a new way of being a Mercedes-Benz driver.

If you live in Nashville or Philadelphia and love Mercedes-Benz, good news! You’ll now be able take part of the Mercedes-Benz Collection. It is a direct response to BMW’s pilot program here in the U.S. It’s a first-of-its-kind approach from Mercedes-Benz to allow a subscription to a Benz, cutting out all of the negatives that come from car ownership.

Similar to the European version that launched last March, the monthly fees are arranged in tiers for access to various Mercedes models. Simply order through an app, and your car will be delivered at the time and place specified. Not only is it touted as being convenient for folks who don’t always need a car, but the costs and inconvenience of service and maintenance are completely eliminated.

For now, dealerships will provide the backbone of the launch, assisting with maintenance and coordination of deliveries, but ultimately, this could put a potential distance between customers and dealerships in general. There will be no need to negotiate with a salesperson or take it to a dealership for service. Some will see this as good, others, maybe not so much. However, Mercedes is entering the mix with competitors from BMW, Porsche, Audi and Cadillac, who have all launched subscription-style services as well.

Motorheads will also be delighted that AMG models will be included in the service.

Full details (including price) still aren’t available yet. We don’t how long certain cars will stay in the subscription fleet, or what the availability of flagship models will be like. However, roadside assistance, any maintenance that may come up and unlimited mileage are all part of the subscription bundle.

It won’t fully eliminate options for buying or leasing a car, but it does add another approach to get more Mercedes-Benz owners on the road.
