AMG SoCal Lounge Brings Tons of AMGs to Huntington Beach
Twenty-fifth monthly edition of Southern California cars and coffee event featured a lot of AMG awesomeness.
Most of the United States is freezing right now. Even Florida, normally between the 60s and 80s this time of year, is experiencing a big chilly spell after the sun sets as of this writing. It’s definitely not a good time for Mercedes-AMG fans looking to roll out on the road to show off their finest.
In Southern California, though, things are different. At least, they were Sunday, January 19. There, we found the 25th monthly edition of Supercars by the Sea, this one hosted by AMG SoCal Lounge.
Held on the beach of Huntington Beach from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., the monthly cars-and-coffee happening was open to all sorts of fine machines ready to enjoy the warm California winter day. Of course, we were there to check out the badass AMGs pulling into the parking lot throughout the event.
Chilling at the beach was the (literal) poster child of the show. Owned by Instagrammer widec63, this C63 rocked a full Liberty Walk widebody kit, plus a red half-cage behind a pair of Recaros on the inside. The SEMA 2017 and 2018 star is also packing a big, red Weistec Stage 2 supercharger on top of the 4.0-liter V8. It’s slammed and sinister!
Most of the AMGs we found at this month’s Supercars by the Sea were of the AMG GT, like this yellow one with California black plates. If we didn’t have any sunshine before, this beauty brought it all.
This mean green machine rocked an aggressive widebody kit of its own, accented by plenty of carbon fiber aero bits. It’s as if the GT shed all of its racing livery for a day at the beach.
Some AMGs didn’t need all of that, though, like this black SL65 with the twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 under the long hood. Its mere presence is more than enough for the convertible, whose top was down to greet the 70-degree day.
We spotted the GT’s father enjoying the sun, in the form of a silver SLS AMG Roadster. The trunk lid had a Nurburgring emblem under the AMG badge, likely in honor of the SLS AMG GT’s 7:30 ‘Ring time, set in 2012.
The AMG SoCal Lounge is one of seven AMG Lounges in the United States, each one designed to give AMG owners a chance to meet with other nearby AMG fans, and host cool events like this.
