Our Favorite Benzes From Wekfest ’22
We saw our share of slammed and shiny Mercedes-Benzes at this famous LA car show.
Recently, we attended Wekfest at the LA Convention Center. Wekfest’s organizers bill the show as a celebration of “the car community, its people, and the stories they tell.” We lost track of how many seriously cool rides we saw at this year’s event. Today, we’re just focusing on the Mercedes-Benzes we saw at the show .
The first car to jump out at us was a two-tone blue C126. It was giving us serious Roadhouse vibes, even though it was modified in a tasteful JDM-inspired style with yellow headlights and bronze Volk TE37s. Is there a single car out there that doesn’t look good on TE37s? We doubt it.
There’s just something about these C126s that capture our attention every time we see them. They have excellent proportions stock, and as you can see with the above example, it doesn’t take much to make them really stand out. Sometimes, less is more.
Widebody Obsession
Like most of you, we like our custom cars low and wide. The widebody trend doesn’t show any signs of slowing, and we don’t think it should. Like TE37s, a widebody kit looks good on just about anything.
When we spotted this candy apple red AMG GT, we were drawn to it like a magnet. The wide body kit, coupled with a healthy dose of carbon fiber, scoops, and spoilers, gives this AMG GT a roadgoing GT3 race car vibe. Everything about this car looks functional, whether or not it actually is. Overall, it’s actually very tasteful, just toeing the line of being outrageous without being over the top.
Lastly, we found this aggressive, mega-wide C63 AMG. The W204 generation C-Class is one of our favorites, especially in AMG form. We think that the design has aged very well. Whether you’re inclined to call this shade “steel blue,” “periwinkle,” or “dryer lint,” you’ve got to acknowledge that it looks great on this car, especially with the darker blue wheel centers. It matches up well with the C126 above, and we think it’s a shame that they weren’t parked next to each other.
