Mercedes Limo

I can think of a few places I’d like to drive this 1961 Mercedes-Benz 300d limousine, just to see the reactions it’d get. In fact, I’m sure I’d probably even get a few offers from people interested in buying the car. And can you imagine the look on their face when I told them that the owner only paid $1,500 for the vehicle?

Yup, that’s exactly what the owner, Barry Sohnen, says he paid for the used limo, 38 years ago, before having it restored, as highlighted in the USA Today video below.

The Mercedes limousine was recently showcased at the Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance in Beverly Hills. Sohnen says the car retailed for $11,000 when new, which at the time made it more expensive than a Rolls-Royce.

I’m certainly no appraiser, but my guess is that would make this pristine ’61 Mercedes 300d quite the collector’s item in 2016. Check out the video below, then let us know what you think.
