1966 Mercedes 250SE Restored to Concours Quality

The 250SE is a unique car for Mercedes. As the name suggests, it fits right in between the 220SE and the 280SE, but for many, the 250SE is the one to have. It offered more power than the 220, but had far nicer trim and fittings than the less durable 280SE. Just like Goldilocks, you’ll find that the middle one is best.

This 1966 250SE is the result of two very talented automotive restorers who each had their own unique part in this car being resurrected. It had been put aside for years after Steve Serrels disassembled the car for a nut and bolt restoration. Steve did the body and paintwork, but then it sat incomplete. Daniel Landeros, who knew Steve quite well, decided to continue the restoration.

The results speak directly to the obsessive process by which the car was restored. If an original part could not be resurrected to concours-quality, a N.O.S. part would be located. And if that couldn’t be found, a part would be sourced from Mercedes directly. One could argue that the final result is a car in better-than-new condition. Who are we to disagree?
