2006 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG Sells for Jaw-Dropping $3,750

This one-owner, 600-plus-horsepower super-sedan sells for a mere 2 percent of its original MSRP.

Talk about depreciating value. Imagine spending $200,000 on something and then selling it for just $3,750 some 11 years later.

Sure, steep depreciation on a luxury vehicle is nothing new. And with 150,000 miles on the odometer, it’s not like you can actually pitch this as a low-miles vehicle. Still, to think that someone who spent $200K on a 2006 Mercedes AMG S65 would have to let it go for under four grand is difficult to comprehend on any level.

As reported by The Drive, that $3,750 resale price equates to about 2 percent of the car’s original MSRP. Yep, a measly 2 percent.

Even tougher to digest is that there doesn’t seem to be much wrong with it aside from the typical wear and tear you’d expect on a car with over 150,000 miles on the road. The Drive also points out that just about everything else in this price range is a Ford Taurus, Honda Accord or BMW E36 on its last leg.

Of course, most deals that appear too good to be true usually are, especially when it comes to buying a high-mileage Mercedes. The cost to maintain this AMG S65 could cost as much as a lot of new cars once you tally up expenses over time.

We can imagine that the insurance alone for the car would be enough to deter a lot people from buying it. Then again, we can also see how driving a 600-plus horsepower Mercedes that you only paid $3,750 for could ease the pain of that monthly premium pretty nicely.
