2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Night Edition Is One Rare, Stealthy Coupe
Just 15 of these stunning Mercedes AMG-GT Night Edition coupes will be built for the Australian market.
Dark trim and matte finishes are all the rage these days, and for good reason – they look especially menacing on sports and exotic cars. That includes the snarling beast known as the Mercedes-AMG GT coupe, which just so happens to be heading to Australia once again, a market it exited back in 2019. And to celebrate the occasion, the automaker has created a brand new special edition just for fans down under – the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Night Edition.
As the name implies, the Mercedes-AMG GT Night Edition is one stealthy-looking coupe, available in a trio of dark finishes – Graphite Gray Magno (as seen here), Obsidian Black, or Selenite Gray. The special edition comes with a carbon-fiber roof wearing a pair of tinted stripes, along with staggered 19- and 20-inch wheels. Additional exterior features include tinted headlights, a black Panamerica grille, and black brake calipers with white AMG lettering, all of which add a nice bit of contrast to the mix.
The interior of the Mercedes-AMG GT Night Edition is equally stealthy and stunning, thanks to black diamond-quilted Nappa leather, with Dinamica faux suede covering the headliner and steering wheel. Additionally, you’ll find a host of gloss black accents, a “Night Edition” badge, and a tinted rear window.
And for those that like to pump out the jams, the Night Edition also comes standard with a 10-speaker Burmester stereo system. Ride Control adaptive damping is standard for the perfect combination of a comfy ride and sharp handling depending on the situation.
Since the Night Edition is a purely cosmetic exercise, that means it comes with the same powerplant and output as the rest of the AMG GT coupe lineup – a twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V8 that produces 523 horsepower and 494 pound-feet of torque, which is a bump from the previous model year.
Shifts are handled by a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, which sends power to an electronic limited-slip rear differential. Performance is impressive, with 0-60 happening in 3.7 seconds. Keep your foot buried, and the Night Edition will top out at 194 mph.
The Mercedes-AMG GT Night Edition coupe is certainly an attractive package, but it also won’t be a common sight on Aussie roads, as just 15 will be built. Pricing comes in at $294,200 AUS ($227,640 USD), with deliveries set to begin in Q3.
