We didn’t think it was possible but the tri-star Brand managed to equip it 2021 S-Class with even more High-tech gadgetry.

The global automotive industry acknowledges a maxim that stipulates every generation of Mercedes-Benz S-Class sets groundbreaking benchmarks in the field of automotive luxury, safety, and technology which takes mass-volume models years to achieve. Like other premium car manufacturers around the world, Mercedes is also working on revamping its product portfolio to capitalize on the growing demand for SUVs whilst trying to incorporate some level of electrification in its upcoming Models. This is also the reason why every model in the 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class range features a mild-hybrid powertrain.

The outgoing S-Class generation (W223) sports a well-restrained design language which only adds to its sophisticated appeal. The 2021 S-Class is 1.3 inches longer than its predecessor and with a drag coefficient of just 0.22, the luxury sedan is extremely aerodynamic. Even the door-handles on the 2021 model sit flush into the bodywork and only present themselves when the driver unlocks the car or approaches it with the smart key.

Inside the car, we are greeted by a 12.8-inch OLED touchscreen that sits in the middle of the dashboard. The car also gets a 12.3-inch instrument screen that gets state-of-the-art 3D display capability. Every panel in the cabin is illuminated by color-customizable LED lighting and wrapped in the finest leather.

A fingerprint sensor is also part of the package which allows drivers to quickly switch between pre-programmed driving profiles. In a true Mercedes fashion, the company continues to offer wooden trim inside the cabin of its flagship sedan.

Mercedes will initially introduce two models as part of the 2021 S-Class model range in the United States. The entry-level S500 variant will come equipped with a supercharged and turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six engine which will produce 429 horsepower and 384 lb-let of torque.

The range-topping S580 model will feature a 4.0-liter Biturbo V8 engine capable of churning out 596 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of peak torque. Both powerplants will come mated to a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and both models will also share a 9-speed automatic transmission as standard along with Merc’s 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system.

The 2021 Mercedes S-Class has been designed to incorporate Level 3 Autonomy at some point. For now, the luxury sedan gets a Drive Pilot smart cruise system which does the job of lane-keeping quite well.

The company also offers a 10-degree rear-axle steer system which is offered as an exclusive option for the S580 model. This feature reduces the car’s turning radius to 35.1 feet at low speeds which is even less than the turning radius of an A-class sedan.
