The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 63 S E Performance isn’t just fast – it’s the quickest production car to ever emerge from AMG.

While the world debates whether or not EVs are a viable replacement for ICE – an argument that has reached a fever pitch in recent months – automakers continue to harness the power of electricity for, well, things other than saving the environment. Sure, there are plenty of hyper-efficient hybrids out there, but there are also an increasingly large number of supercars and exotics leaning on hybrid power for a very different reason – to extract as much performance as humanly possible. It’s also precisely what makes the 2025 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 63 S E Performance the quickest Merc to date, too.

Pop the hood of the new Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 63 S E Performance (try saying that ten times fast) and you’ll see a familiar sight – the twin turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, which cranks out a solid 603 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque on its own accord. However, in this case, it’s also paired with a rear-mounted electric motor that adds another 201 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque to the mix, for an impressively awesome combined output of 805 horsepower and an astounding 1,047 pound-feet of torque.

As one might imagine, this is a plug-in hybrid, so the car utilizes a 4.8 kWh battery pack, which allows for a short distance of electric only driving. That isn’t really the main selling point here, however – rather, the AMG GT 63 S E Performance harnesses its electric addition to send copious amounts of power to all four wheels via a 9-speed gearbox and Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tires, rocketing from 0-60 miles-per-hour in a mere 2.7 seconds. That makes it the quickest-accelerating production car AMG has ever produced – even quicker than the Mercedes-AMG One, amazingly enough.

Keep your foot down, and the electrified sports car will top out at an electronically-limited 199 mph, which is probably fast enough, even for those that live near Germany’s Autobahn. However, it’s no featherweight – MB hasn’t released official numbers just yet, but notes that the coupe tips the scales at somewhere over 4,600 pounds, which is obviously a lot. However, it utilizes some pretty trick gear to overcome that mass when the road gets curvy, too.

That tech is something of a who’s who of suspension goodies, such as an adaptive suspension, active anti-roll bars, and rear-axle steering, which are coupled with carbon-ceramic brakes to help slow the heavy rig down. There is also some trick aero to aid in that department, such as a specific element on the underbody capable of lowering the car by 1.6 inches at 50 mph, and retractable rear wing with five different pre-determined positions, though a fixed wing is also available as an option – one that can add 31 pounds of downforce at 155 mph.

While some purists may scoff at its electric assist, there’s no denying that the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 63 S E Performance has one specific purpose in mind – to serve as a grand touring road rocket of sorts, a car that’s equal parts comfortable and thrilling to drive. And – given the fact that it’s still packing a good old fashioned V8 under its long hood – we’re perfectly fine with that.
