Battle of the Tuners: Renntech E63 vs Evotech X5M
Drag races are quite possibly one of the easiest forms of motorsport to describe. How fast can you cover a set distance? Acceleration has been a standard measure of performance since, well, ever. OEMs have been battling for years to see who can accelerate fastest, but for this one, we get a peek at two renowned tuners: Evotech, for the BMW, and Renntech for two AMG cars in the form of a C63 and E63.
Despite the X5M weighing about as much as a small department store, it wins the first race. That’s a bit of a surprise, honestly. Both the BMW and the E63 are rated to 750 horsepower, so you know they are incredibly fast, but you would not expect the bigger, heavier car to be faster. But on the second race with the C63 AMG, the tables are turned around.
Again the BMW has the launch, but then the AMG comes back and wins the race by a big margin on the top end. Curiously, the graphics on the video show identical time and speed for the cars. The video, however, is proof of who was victorious.
