YouTubers Cruise in $1.3 Million 300SL Gullwing in Canada

Daily Driven Exotics also nab a Porsche Speedster & Ferrari Dino GT for a quick but stylish tour of British Columbia.

The video above comes to us from the YouTubers Daily Driven Exotics and it features hosts Damon Fryer and Dave Coulter visiting Silver Arrow Cars – a premium luxury dealership in British Columbia, Canada. While there, the owner of the dealership tosses them the keys to several of the most historic classic supercars, including a flawless Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing.

When the video begins, Fryer is riding with Coutler in his BMW M3, which has been freshly wrapped and is might be part of a giveaway in the near future. In addition to talking about the car, they plug a sponsor who makes speakers that go in your cup holder, presumably for people with really terrible car sound systems.

Trip to the Dealer

Once all of that is out of the way, they head over to Silver Arrow Cars for a look at the current inventory of premium luxury vehicles old and new. Upon arriving, they check out an Audi R8, a Ferrari Dino GT and an assortment of other incredible machines. Fryer then heads outside with Tim, the man in charge of this unique dealership. They talk a bit about the cars on hand, including the 1956 Porsche Speedster, at which point Fryer is instructed to get in.

As the two sit in the Porsche, the dealership head rolls past with a Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing and Fryer heads out behind him in the Speedster.

Cruising in the Classics

At first, Fryer talks about the questionable braking system of the Porsche Speedster as he tries to keep up with the 300SL Gullwing. With just 75 horsepower, he points out that the car is “not fast at all”, but as we all know, this isn’t a car that is about speed.

After the first leg of their drive, the pair of antique sports cars stop along the roadside for a closer look at the 300SL. Tim explains that the Porsche retails for around $350,000 while the Benz has a price tag of $1.3 million U.S. dollars. He also shows off the interesting fold-down steering wheel that makes getting in and out of the Gullwing a bit easier.

From there, the video really heats up, with Fryer driving the Gullwing while Coulter pilots the Porsche around town and back to the dealership. From there, Coulter jumps into the bright yellow Dino GT for one more cruise with Fryer in the Benz.

The video is long but it is filled with awesome moving shots of all of these classic supercars in action, so grab a drink, kick back, crank up your speakers and enjoy!

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
