Don’t Miss This Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG Build

MBWorld forum member only needed 8 months to create pure drift magic.

Fans of nuanced super sedans take note: While the M5 might be the representative specimen of the breed, Mercedes and AMG have been building handsome four-doors with enough chutzpah to challenge dedicated sports cars for decades now.

If you visit a dealership today looking for an amped-up E-series, you’ll be shown the E63. However, the E55 AMG has been the stuff of legends for years as MB’s competitor in this hotly contested segment. With damn-near 470 horsepower right out of the box, the W211 example of the car makes the perfect blank slate for MBWorld forum member jumph4xs radical drift project.

Badass In Black

Most drifters select fairly simple cars to use for their projects. Things get complicated fast enough once you start building a racer. Not jumph4x, though. He not only selected a 4,000-lb. Bavarian rocket sled to use as his project car, but he also did most of the work on it himself.

The owner has done a fantastic job of tracking his build, too. A look at the thread reveals a wealth of pictures detailing each interior and exterior mod as well as visits to the track and run-ins with fellow forum users.

Jumph’s modifications are extensive and range from modding the car’s interior with new stereo equipment and power seat switches to custom lowered suspension for better on-track behavior and installing a complete aftermarket emergency brake that allows the dreadlock-sporting driver to fling the black car around drift circuits with aplomb.

Feel Inspired Yet?

If the video is any indication, this E55 is enjoying life doing what it was born to do: Shred tires! How many of these cars are out there rotting in garages, never dipping into the full potential of that sweet, Lysholm supercharged M113 V8? This is for you, Benz brothers and sisters.
