Doug DeMuro Hypnotized by Mercedes Maybach S600
Packed to the gills with opulence, is the Mercedes Maybach S600 even an S-class at this point?
Special features on a car are YouTuber Doug DeMuro‘s favorite thing in the world to pick over, so its no surprise that he took a long time to get acquainted with the Mercedes Maybach S600. The video above from his YouTube channel is a bit on the longer side, and yet despite all the things DeMuro covers, he really only touches the surface of things considering what the Mercedes Maybach S600 is capable of. Still, he brings out the car’s finest points, specifically, where the seats for the passengers.
“Now that I’m here in the back seat, it’s time for me to tell you all the wonderful reasons why its great to be a rear passenger in the Mercedes Maybach,” said DeMuro. The main focus of course is the amount of things you can actually do back there. He speaks about the millions of positions you can place the seats, including turning one nearly into a chaise, to the multimedia remote controls, to the fridge to chill your wine.
Hell, there is even an airbag on the seatbelts themselves. Talk about covering all bases.
Of course, not all the fun is had in the back seat. The driver gets to have a nice experience as well. “Next we move up to the front of the Maybach S600 where there’s a further long list of insanity,” according to DeMuro. Insanity, as in the way it drives. Views for the driver are complimented by the usual exquisite trim, and ultra luxurious surfaces.
Leather covered everything not already occupied by silver accented wood trim. But most of all, the driver has control of the twin turbo V12. Rather than a punch in the back, acceleration comes on like a wave. Relentless, smooth and silent. It can even manage to get its heft around corners when needed, but it’s not at all a sports car by any means.
Is $200,000 expensive for an S-class? Sure. But compared to the British offerings by Rolls Royce and Bentley, the S-class Mercedes Maybach under cuts prices by a significant margin while arguably being just as luxurious. But there’s still some who may think it’s just an S-class.
