Dutch Man Flies Across Autobahn in AMG CLA 45 S

By -

Dutch YouTuber takes his Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S out for a drive on an unlimited section of the Autobahn to get the car’s top speed.

The Autobahn is every driver’s dream highway. Few places on Earth offer the opportunity to get the most out of a car than Germany’s famous highway system. While most sections have a speed limit, a few allow one and all to let it all hang out for as long as their talent and skill allows.

One example is a Dutch YouTube channel called AutoTopNL. The unnamed individuals behind it love nothing more than to take out a high-performance machine on the Autobahn, and send it. Recently, the channel brought a yellow 2020 Mercedes-AMG CLA S to Germany, just to see what it could do.

The driver walks around his yellow CLA 45 S, which has a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four with 421 horses and 369 lb-ft of torque ready to hit the corners. Once in the driver’s seat, he gets all of his apps ready, and clicks off the handling in Sport mode.

On his first pass down the unlimited section of the Autobahn, the driver passes by two trucks on his way to 138 mph. Not a bad run for the little yellow compact sedan. However, there’s more left in the tank to burn up.

Rounding the on-ramp back onto the Autobahn, the CLA 45 S gets a couple of flights in, climbing up to 132 mph before dropping back to prepare for the big run down the Teutonic highway of dreams.

A quick reset later, the CLA 45 S explodes from a roll, hitting a new top speed of 165 mph. Meanwhile, we’d be lucky to hit 80 mph on our own roads. Yet, there’s one more thing left to do.

With Race Start clicked on, the driver slams on the accelerator, flying down the road like a bat out of hell. He speeds past the others on the right, topping out at 171 mph. The CLA 45 S couldn’t break past the figure, holding for a few seconds before dropping back down.

In the end, this run was truly riding historic on the golden road.
