A few days ago, Esquire gifted us with their sexiest woman of the year, Emilia Clarke, who showcased her talents by spending some quality time in a Mercedes-Benz. But now, the venerable men’s mag has given us what we’ve really all been waiting for: their Car of the Year.

Obviously, since this is MBWorld, you’ll probably agree with their findings. After much haggling, Esquire editors have named the 2016 Mercedes-AMG C63 the car of the year! Go ahead, commence celebrating, but please remember to put on your ski goggles before spraying the bubbly all over the house.

To become the best, the C63 needed to beat out the rest. And there were some very worthy contenders this year, including Esquire‘s other finalists: the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V, the 2016 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, and the 2016 Tesla Model S P90D. Ultimately, here’s why the Benz won out:

“You can do the silly, terrible things you can do in a Hellcat, but you won’t burn fuel like a 747. You can travel long distances with ease—no waiting for a battery charge every few hours—which you can’t do in a Tesla. You don’t have to explain away subpar details, as you do with the Cadillac.”

The Esquire article goes into great detail about all the things they love about the C63, so it’s definitely worth a read, even it may feel a bit early to be dolling out the year-end awards here in mid-October. But hey, when you know, you know. So we’ll take it. And we’ll wait patiently for the rest of the year-end lists to follow suit.
