G 550 Desert Sand With Vossen Wheels Looks Ready for Action

By -

Mercedes G 550 looks even more stunning with new wheels and ready to tackle off-road excursions.

As the off-road SUV that essentially sits at the top of the Mercedes lineup, the 2020 G-Class has a lot of shoes to fill. It needs to contain a certain amount of luxury and be able to conquer trails and terrain far from the pavement. Additionally, the G 550 and the other G-Class variants need all the amenities shared by the other Mercedes products in their cabins. Although sometimes coolness doesn’t come from the factory.

These sweet new rims from Vossen practically made specifically for the G 550. We’re inclined to agree that they look extraordinary. Paired with the Desert Sand paint job, they transform the G 550 into something ready to tackle unforgiving desert terrain in style. The HF-4T’s are definitely worth thinking about if you want a G-Class that stands apart from the rest.

Desert-themed Desire

Although the Vossen HF-4T alloys are available in a multitude of different colors like silver and bronze. In this particular application, you definitely want something that gives the G 550 the appearance of a military vehicle. If you don’t like the shiny look of the wheels in the above pictures, there’s other options for you too. Vossen makes a matte black and an anthracite black. That would no doubt make the G 550 look just as menacing too. Either way, the rims completely enhance the factory paint.

With 416 horsepower and 450 Ib-ft. of torque, the G 550 is no slouch. That’s enough power to get the luxury SUV from 0-60 mph in 5.6 seconds. That will no doubt supplement the already imposing look of the G 550 as it cruises around. The SUV started life as a military vehicle after all, so in many ways this is the most appropriate color for the G 550.

Well Worth It

As a $6,500 option, Desert Sand isn’t exactly cheap. But it definitely puts the G 550 on a different plane of existence. Vossen’s wheels only enhance the look. Heck, there might not even be a need to spring for a G63 with this setup. That’s especially true with these 22 inch rims. Factory wheel sizes max out at 20 inches, so these aftermarket examples are formidable simply due to their presence. In any event, no matter what style you go with, the new G-Class promises to offer a huge jump in refinement and capability over the previous model. And that’s really saying something, because the older G-Class brought the goods for decades before the new generation arrived at showrooms.

Essentially, the new G-Class represents everything people have come to expect. It’s the perfect intersection of luxury and utility. And now it has all the latest technology to make it competitive for years. That’s generally what we call a triple threat. Additionally, there are many ways to customize them to enhance their look. Not satisfied with your G 550? No problem. Vossen’s wheels paired with the excellent Desert Sand color is only one of many avenues available to customers. And leaving the G 550 alone and appreciating it as it comes from the factory is perfectly fine too. Although based on these shots of HF-4T alloys, it’s hard to deny that they visually give the G 550 some additional heft.
