Three names should come to mind when you hear the word “off-road.” They should be: Jeep, Land Rover, and of course, Mercedes-Benz. Naturally, when we say Land Rover, we mean the Defender, and not their newest mall-crawlers.
The PistonHeads video above sweeps us to a luscious and breathtaking part of Great Britain, where the hosts of the show put two of the oldest and most rugged off-roaders to the test. We’re talking about the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen G350d, and the Land Rover Defender 110, in this case one modified by Twisted. Clearly, it’s going to be a heck of a challenge.

For this match up, both machines are powered by diesel engines, and wear similar rubber to make things relatively comparable. One thing they don’t have in common, though, is the fact that the Defender has been modified severely, as compared to its fully-stock rival. Will such “advantages” translate to an easy win?
