Greatest Crashes That Make Me Love Mercedes Safety

If you ever question why Mercedes spends so much time, money, and effort creating the world’s most advanced safety tech, maybe it’s time to take a step back and see just how violent a collision can actually be.

Check out the random video below that is little more than a rapid-fire crash fest with no less than eight cars being utterly destroyed in 200 kph impacts. If you don’t want to bother with the math, that’s about 125 mph, and more than three times the speed that the IIHS uses to conduct its crash test ratings.

So the next time you get slightly annoyed because the traction control kicks in on your AMG, or your seatbelt chimes at you if you neglect to buckle it right away, just remember that they are small pieces of decades worth of advancements engineered to save lives, so that when you get in a collision you are far less likely to become a slightly disintegrated, but utterly mutilated mess, like that airborne Volvo above. (And yes, there are two cars in that collision!)
