Hypercar Strongman Competition: LaFerrari vs Veyron SS vs 918 vs P1 vs Huayra

The struggle is real in the hypercar industry. Competition is at an extreme temperature between auto manufacturers of these ultimate sport automobiles. Breaching past the supercar era of speed, these masterpieces of velocity are now referred to as hypercars.

The hypercar is defined by many factors, but at the top of that list is driving ability. To reach those levels of performance you need rocket-age technological advancements that are sprinkled throughout these modern pieces of rolling art. Solomondrin says it best in the video below, “There is no other industry that competition has driven more technical achievements than the hypercar world.”

Ultra supreme features like full carbon fiber bodies, turbocharged 16-cylinder engines, instant acting hybrid drive systems, and automatically active aero are just a few of the competitive factors. This is the most exciting and quickly evolving vehicle segment in the world.

But still, in the last couple of years, we haven’t seen an authentic hypercar competition. There have been shootouts from the buff books like Road & Track, but nothing like this. Solomondrin prepared this five hypercar competition video out of the South Palm Circuit in a three part series. The target is to have owners allow a professional race car driver, James Sofranas from GMG Racing, to wring out each vehicle in order to find out who has the fastest lap time and quarter-mile sprint. Part 1 is the intro, Part 2, shown here, is the driving competition, and the yet to be released Part 3 will announce the times and winner.

North American examples of the Ferrari LaFerrari, Bugatti Veyron SS, Porsche 918, McLaren P1, and Pagani Huayra were provided by owners, not the manufacturers. A fair amount of the time buff books are supplied vehicles, so their choices are swayed a bit even when real data proves otherwise. The Hyper 5 video seems unbiased. Each car will be driven by the same driver at the same track during the same time of day. Each of the owners have emotional attachment to their choice of hypercar purchased, but each of them know their strong suits and have good predictions of who will win.

Solomondrin, who owns the Pagani Huayra, shares many reasons why he believes the Pagani is the most outstanding hypercar of the bunch. First of all, he devotes a lot of time to how beautiful the design is, and I must agree, bravo Mr. Horacio Pagani. The full carbon body, wedge-profile, and design is Museum of Modern Art quality. But the massive achievement of Pagani is its power to weight ratio, which is best in class. At a weight of 2,980 pounds, Pagani propels the Huayra by twin-turbocharged V12 engine from Mercedes-Benz pumping out 720 BHP. This offers an unreal feel that, if you believe Solomondrin, is the most differentiating factor from the rest of the bunch. And the feel of fun is what it is all about at the end of the day.

If you had your choice of hypercar, would you buy it on what feels the best to you, or what the books say is the fastest?
