Mercedes-AMG Introduces G 63 ‘Edition 55’
AMG will only build 55 examples of the new special edition.
With electrification quickly taking over the world, AMG is also adopting electric mobility and expanding its EV portfolio. The latest addition to the German automaker’s electric fleet is the new EQE electric sedan. The EV made its world debut earlier this year. 2022 also marks a special milestone for Merc’s performance division. AMG celebrates its 55th anniversary this year, and the company introduced the all-new Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Edition 55” model to commemorate the occasion.
The new special edition is a tribute model to honor AMG founders Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher. The new Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Edition 55” rides on a set of 22-inch forged wheels. The SUV flaunts a beautiful Matte gray finish. The car also gets a silver Chrome fuel cap which flaunts AMG branding. Also part of the ensemble is the red illuminated stainless steel doorplates.
Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, Philipp Schiemer, shared his thoughts on the special occasion. “From a two-man start-up in 1967 to a state-of-the-art development site including its own engine manufacturing facility for high-performance vehicles and more than 2000 excellently qualified employees in 2022, the success story of Mercedes-AMG over the past 55 years is simply impressive.
The same applies to the G-Class, which has remained true to itself for over four decades in the course of its unique career,” said Schiemer, in a recent press statement.
The new Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Edition 55” is available in the Obsidian Black Metallic option. The new SUV comes complete with AMG Night Package and AMG Night Package II, which also bestow a striking contrast.
AMG also strikes a tasteful balance between red and black elements inside the cabin. Two-tone Napa leather adorns the AMG seats, and we also find AMG carbon trim elements throughout the cabin.
Even the black AMG Velour floor mats get contrasting red stitching and Edition 55 badging. This limited-edition model is an exceptional collector’s item. To understand this, one only has to wrap his/her hands around the AMG performance steering wheel wrapped in microfiber and take look at the AMG and 55 badges.
