Mercedes-AMG Introduces Limited Edition GT Track Series

Mercedes-AMG celebrates the brand’s 55-year anniversary with the ultra-exclusive GT Track Series. The company will only produce 55 examples of the new model.

Merc’s performance division definitely knows how to assemble an exciting machine. In July 2021, we discussed the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 50. The high octane supercar that was up for sale with a $1.07 million price tag. In addition to introducing the Mercedes-AMG 63 Edition 55, the company recently also introduced the all-new 2022 Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series. These offerings are celebration models which commemorate the brand’s 55th anniversary.

The new offering is not street legal, and the automaker will only manufacture 55 examples of this track machine. The all-new Mercedes-AMG GT track edition is also the most powerful customer sports car that Mercedes-AMG has developed till now. Prices for the new limited-edition AMG (in Germany) start at $406,243 or €369,000 (based on current exchange rates).

Head of Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing, Stefan Wendl, also shared his thoughts on the company’s new product. “For the development of the Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series, we set ourselves the aspiring goal of being able to provide ambitious motorsport customers with a matured and highly exclusive track tool,” said Wendl.

Biturbo 4-liter V8

Under the hood, we find a biturbo 4-liter V8 powerplant. The motor in the Mercedes-AMG GT Track Edition produces more power than the standard GT Black Series.

He further adds,” Our engineers and motorsport experts have accomplished this in an impressive way. I am looking forward to our customers setting new personal records with the GT Track Series at racetracks around the world.”

The engine churns out 724 HP of maximum power and 627 lb-ft of peak torque. The car also rides on an aluminum double-wishbone suspension setup and gets a sequential AMG six-speed competition gearbox. To keep the weight as low as possible Mercedes-AMG GT track edition gets an aluminum space frame chassis and carbon fiber body panels.

A high tensile steel roll cage and a powerful motorsport fire extinguisher system ensure the driver’s safety on the track. Furthermore, this GT track edition also gets a set of 18-inch forged AMG light alloy wheels, which are wrapped in sticky track tires. Lastly, with a 31.7-gallon fuel tank, this supercar has enough range to run multiple laps around any racetrack without having to refill over and over again.
