YouTuber Gets Seat Time in One of the Last-ever AMG S-Class Models

Limited to 130 copies, AMG S65 Final Edition comes with a twin-turbo V12, bronze wheels and fridge in the rear.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is about to enter the 2020s as a whole new car, the seventh in the long line of Daimler AG’s top-of-the-line flagship. No doubt Mercedes-AMG will make good use of whatever power will likely take up residence under the new hood.

Until then, Mercedes-AMG is sending off its take on the S-Class with the S65 Final Edition. YouTuber Betim Lushtaku (a.k.a. MercBenzKing) recently got a look at one of the 130 models at the Geneva Motor Show, sharing his thoughts on this fine bit of luxury.

“This is the Final Edition Mercedes-Benz AMG S65 with a V12 engine,” said Lushtaku. “In today’s video, I will show you the complete interior, exterior, and you will listen to the sound [of the V12].”

The S65 Final Edition wears a high-gloss obsidian black trimmed in matte bronze, including the set of 20-spoke wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 3s. This particular limited edition, Lushtaku says, is based on the long-wheelbase version of the S-Class.

“This is the engine, hand-crafted by AMG, one man, one engine,” said Lushtaku. “A V12 producing 630 horsepower and [738 lb-ft] of torque.”

All of that power sends the S65 Final Edition from zero to 62 mph in 3.8 seconds, and delivers a top speed of 186 mph. And of course, the 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 looks wonderful in carbon fiber.

“By sitting here in the interior of the Mercedes-AMG S65, you really feel the premium quality,” said Lushtaku. “The differences with the normal or standard S65 is that this one has the AMG S65 Final Edition emblem, as well as here on the center console.”

Other cool features the S65 Final Edition has include the Burmester sound system, whose A-pillar speakers rotate and glow when turned on, pumped-in sound from the twin-turbo V12, black napa leather with copper stitching, and badging letting you know you have one of the 130 S65 Final Editions to ever be made.

“The seat in front of me, the driver’s seat, is in my driving position,” said Lushtaku. “As you can see, I have plenty of space… As you can really see… it’s so smooth. It has every option you can think of.”

And what options it has. For both rear passengers, each get their own touchscreen to do everything from change the radio station to give directions, seats that massage you from point A to point B, heated and cooled cup holders, aluminum laptop desks in the center console, and a rear-mounted refrigerator that also takes some space away from the trunk.

All in all, this is one special AMG, one we hope a few owners decide to drive (or ride) around town more than a few times a year.
