Who Ever Thought an Old-School Mercedes-Benz Ambulance Could Be So Darn Cool?

MBWorld scouts the internet to bring you the hottest rides, and the latest news from the Silver Arrows. But, we must also bring you the odd, the custom, and the outrageous.

In a world full of universal part bins and exchangeable everything, a unique Mercedes-Benz always stands out from the crowd. Just like this one! Then again, how can it not, when it looks like a big, yellow Popemobile? This old-school Mercedes-Benz ambulance served its generous civil duty already. But instead of going to a junkyard, someone decided to go all West Coast Customs on it!

Mercedes Ambulance

This 1991 Mercedes-Benz 260E Ambulance is one of many that can be found across Europe. However, in this case the vehicle seems to come from the States. Weird, right?

Furthermore, the unique whip is currently listed for sale by FREDY, who claims to offer “The finest motorcycles from Estonia.” Interestingly enough, there isn’t a whole of information on the ambulance, except for the photos you see here, and the somewhat confusing text below:

  • 1995 MB E320 Donor Car from USA
  • New Engine and Transmission
  • New Electrical System
  • New Seats
  • New Dashboard
  • New Center Console
  • New Door panels

So is the seller trying to say the new Mercedes cab is a 1995 E320? If so, why is the vehicle listed as a 1991 260E? Also, why would anyone go through the hassle of bringing a Mercedes from the U.S. back to Europe? Perhaps we will never know.

What we do know, however, is that this freakish creation is actually pretty sweet looking. And it would make a heck of a cargo van, as well. Watch out Metris! We can see ourselves hitting up car shows, bringing MBWorld swag and grub to cars and coffee.

But what do you think, love it or hate it?
