Bloomberg: Invest in the Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC

Forget Hedge Funds and Real Estate, Bet on a Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC

If you’re looking for a Mercedes-Benz with a good chance of becoming a collectible, then listen up.

A recent Bloomberg report dug up a few ‘80s-era cars that they say are well worth considering. And one of the cars listed is the Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC, produced from 1985 to 1991.

Not really a huge surprise, right?

The hard-edged, big-body styling of the ’80s-era S-Class coupe has maintained a pretty solid fan base over the years. In fact, as Bloomberg points out, no other vehicle holds quite the same road presence, which makes it a really hot commodity in 2017.

Under the hood, is a 238-horsepower V8. But it’s clearly the styling of the Mercedes that makes it a keeper.

Apparently, the going price for one of the classic S-Class coupes in decent condition is about $8,000. But if you’re looking for one in mint condition, expect to spend upwards of $15,000.

The price of the car has only increased about five percent in the past five years, which might suggest that you have a few years to pick one up. However, Bloomberg notes that some other classic Mercedes coupes that only experienced a moderate increase in price are now running in the six figures.

So, you might not want to wait too long. Because the price for Mercedes-Benz 560 SECs could shoot up anytime.
