Mercedes-Benz GLC Snags Motor Trend SUV of the Year Honors

The Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class has been crowned as the 2017 Motor Trend SUV of the year.

Not that it really comes as a surprise to most of us here, as most MBWorld members who have had a chance to spend any time with the vehicle have already given the SUV the official stamp of approval.

As Motor Trend points out, the GLC, reborn from its former days under the GLK moniker, has cleverly integrated bits and pieces of the E-Class into its makeup.

“A bunch of Germans I know joke that the GLC is the cheapest E-Class you can buy. They ain’t joking,” notes veteran Motor Trend writer, Johnny Lieberman.

The GLC win actually marks the third time Mercedes-Benz has won the coveted Motor Trend SUV award. The first was in 2007 for the GL-Class, and once more in 2013 for the second-gen GL.
