The guys at Motor Trend are at it again, pumping out the classics. Jonny Lieberman ushers you through 16 minutes of an acid-laced automotive testosterone trip. Getting a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series ($296,075) together with an SRT Viper ($114,985) is pretty awesome, but then the practical mind knocks at the door, and you think to yourself, “These cars aren’t even on the same level.” Our forum members were pondering just that.

MBWorld Fanatic forum member callmiro said, “You can’t just disregard price like that … it’s the biggest factor. The new Viper is only a couple of grand more than the old one, but the Black Series is almost $100k more than a ‘normal’ SLS.

“Don’t get me wrong … I can’t stand the new Viper, but let’s keep it at least apples to apples. That was more like Swanson frozen dinner to a Surf and Turf at Ruth’s Chris.

“Why didn’t they just throw in the Ferrari F12 and Shelby GT500?”

Very much agreed, callmiro. Maybe in their next World’s Greatest Drag RaceMotor Trend will throw the F12 and GT 500 into the mix.
