Mercedes-AMG C63 Undergoes Extreme Rally Makeover

By -

Michelin Team U.K. goes all out to win Goodwood’s World Cup Challenge contest by turning their Mercedes C63 AMG into a vintage rally car.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of our very favorite events each year, for a number of reasons. This massive gathering encompasses only the very best road-going sports cars and iconic racers on the planet, both new and old. One could argue that you won’t find a more impressive group of either in one place, anywhere else on the globe. So it makes sense that lots of folks put a lot of effort into the days leading up to Goodwood. Two of them being Michelin and Supercars of London, who spent some time hopping up a killer Mercedes C63 AMG ahead of 2018’s showcase.

Each year, Michelin celebrates both Goodwood and its own motorsports heritage with a series of FoS World Cup Challenges. This year, the first such challenge required participants to round up the highest dollar value of supercars possible in a big money selfie.

Next up, groups had to submit their best team lap in an LMP1 car on Forza. The third challenge? Well, it was a bit open to interpretation. So the guys at Supercars of London, or Michelin Team U.K., decided to take their Mercedes C63 AMG down to Yiannimize for  little extreme makeover.

The idea? To take this plain old white C63 and transform it into a rolling tribute to Michelin’s rally heritage. In this day and age, doing something that dramatic is simple, thanks to the prevalence of vinyl wrap. So the guys quickly get to work on the retro yellow and blue livery. The results certainly speak for themselves. The Mercedes C63 AMG and O.G. Escort rally car are obviously two very different animals. But that iconic livery looks right at home on the German coupe. And if this isn’t enough to bring home the gold for Michelin Team U.K., we don’t know what is.
