Mercedes C63 AMG (W204) Wows BMW M3 Owner

Treats on the Streets YouTuber gives his take on Mercedes’ V8-powered monstrosity.

Influencer Gavin Harmon is a hardcore BMW fan who currently owns a modified E36 M3. In case you are wondering, this is the second-generation M3 we are talking about, which was launched way back in the early 1990s, but it is still a capable performance car, thanks to its brilliant 240 horsepower, 3.2-liter naturally-aspirated straight-six engine. Yes, the new M3 will probably pack twice that amount of power, but let’s be honest, no one will ever be able to exploit that kind of performance on the American roads without getting into some serious trouble.

Nonetheless and moving on, Harmon also runs the YouTube channel Treats on the Streets, where he regularly uploads videos featuring his BMW. Recently, he got the opportunity to drive and review a car that is a lot more relevant to us: the W204 Mercedes-AMG C63.

Just to refresh your memory: the W204 C63 was launched about a decade ago to compete with the E90 M3. It packs a 6.3-liter naturally-aspirated V8 making more than 450 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. The power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed automatic gearbox. Even though the E90 M3 became a favorite in the motoring community, the W204 C63 was acclaimed by many critics as well.

So, what does Harmon have to say about the vehicle? “This AMG [has] earned my respect,” he says. “[It] surprised me in a lot of ways … the steering was pretty sharp, it stayed super-flat [during the corners] and the brakes … were strong.” He also loved the sound of the naturally-aspirated V8 engine, as well as the aggressive exterior styling.

The C63, however, is not crazy enough to convert Harmon into a true-blue Mercedes-AMG fanboy. “BMW Ms are [still] always going to be my favorites,” he says. Yet, this might actually change if Harmon spends some time with the current-generation C63, which is faster than the W204, has a better design and also superior electronics.
