Mercedes-Benz Concept EQ Aims Directly at Tesla Model X

By -

The Electric Vehicle market is heating up around the world. Mercedes-Benz Concept EQ is the brand’s answer to Tesla’s falcon-door Model X.

The electric car is a thing of the past that has been brought back to life. At the turn of the century, electric cars were very popular. Now with the advancement of battery technology and rapid charging they are once again on the rise. Tesla is the dominant brand in the luxury electric car and SUV segment. Their 250+ miles of range and supercharging network have made their Model S and Model X very popular. Mercedes-Benz has always been at the head of innovation in the market, so it is no surprise they are going after Tesla in this premium space. Mercedes-Benz just launched their new Concept EQ SUV.

The concept EQ takes futuristic design to another level even beyond Tesla. Sleek is not enough to describe the full body encompassing lines. Touches of LED color changing areas accent these flowing lines. The color even changes when you drive fast, from slow being blue to blasting white a full speed. The interior is reminiscent of the cutting edge Apple store designs. In the cabin, you are bathing in light, the entire roof is glass. Even the door handles have been approached in a by way of motion detection. Mercedes defiantly came to play. It is comparable to the Tesla Model X in every way from gas milage to charge time. Electric is the new game and Mercedes plans to win.

In this video, YouTube channel What’s Inside Family takes us for a ride in the new Mercedes-Benz Concept EQ EV. This could be a game changer for Mercedes-Benz and Tesla…or it could be a total flop. Cadillac tried to sell a premium EV hybrid with their ELR, which was a Volt in drag. So, it did not do well, but the EV landscape is changing everyday. We hope the Concept EQ retains some of the seriously cool tech when it reaches its final production model.
