More Than Eye Candy: Monochromatic Mercedes G-Wagen Packs 750 HP to Backup Bold Looks

G-Wagen

Amazingly this custom Mercedes G-Wagen is only halfway done. And already it ranks as one of our favorite all-time G-Class builds.

Right off the showroom floor the Mercedes G-Wagen makes a bold statement. Especially when it is the AMG G 63 model. The AMG G 63 is stylish, powerful, and capable. Many AMG G 63 owners possess those same traits. The SUV can take you anywhere and look damn good while doing it. However, for the truly discerning individual a showroom stock G-Wagen is simply not enough. For these folks the stock G 63 is just a blank canvas. A starting point to express their true selves. For these buyers, buying the SUV is only the beginning. The next step is turning it into a custom creation that stands out from the crowd. That is exactly what we have here.

The good folks over at the Platinum Group bill themselves as leading designers and creators of high-end automotive culture and lifestyle. Based on the G 63 build we see here, we have no reason to doubt that claim. If you follow them on Instagram, you will see even more examples of their high-quality builds.

But the focus here is this wonderful G-class build. The vehicle started life as a 2021 AMG G 63. Platinum Group took it from there and made sure this was a vehicle that would stand out even in a sea of other G 63 SUVs.

G 63

Although Mercedes-Benz offers dozens of exterior colors on this model, this build went for something special to make it stand out. The complete exterior black textured trim has been removed off the vehicle, primed, painted the color of the vehicle and re-installed. All the exterior chrome trim has been removed prepped and painted the color of the vehicle.

Many custom builds go with vinyl wraps, and there is nothing wrong with that. However, when you want the best and the details matter, paint is the way to go. The effect here is simply breathtaking.

Also, the stock 20-inch wheels were ditched in favor of a set of massive 24-inch wheels. The wheels are Agetro F700 forged multi piece wheels and painted the exterior color. They are wrapped in a set of 285/35/24 Toyo Proxes ST III tires. The wheels and tires are paired with a set of in-house designed lowering springs.

The lower stance, paint, wheels, and tires give this super SUV a real road presence. But this in not a case of all show and no go.

The stock G 63 produces a healthy 577 horsepower from its 4.0L biturbo V8. It is enough to push the nearly 3-ton vehicle to 60 mph in about 4.5 seconds. Not bad. However, when you design a vehicle to look this good, it also needs to distinguish itself in the power department.

The G 63 you see here has been fitted with a custom tune. It now reportedly pumps out a staggering 750 horsepower. It will get you nearly anywhere on earth and it will get you there in a hurry.

As Ron Popeil would say: “But wait there’s more!” This may very well already be the ultimate G 63 build but there is a stage two in the works. In stage two this vehicle is going to be receiving custom upholstery as well as a set of captain chairs in the rear.

These chairs will be divided by a beautiful carbon fiber center console. The Platinum Group have recently launched a new YouTube channel so you can keep an eye on this and their other drool inducing builds. Let us know your thoughts on this custom G 63 in the MB World forums.
