YouTuber Shows What Owning an AMG CLS 63 is Really Like

By -

As awesome as AMG ownership is, its important to understand the true cost of maintenance & performance.

YouTuber Nick Wavy is the very proud owner of a 2014 Mercedes-AMG CLS 63. It was his dream car, and now that he has owned it for a few months, he decided to post a video about the experience and reality of ownership on his You Tube channel. Spoiler alert: It is awesome.

“All I can tell you guys is this car is super fast,” Wavy says. “There’s really no limitations. When I’m driving I can go as fast as I want to go.”

But Wavy doesn’t just focus on the velocity of his car, although, to be sure, it’s got enough power to make anyone weak in the knees. The CLS 63 S boasts an AMG 5.5-liter V8 Biturbo engine that makes 550 hp, and can go 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds. So it’s quite a force to be reckoned with.

Wavy starts out the video talking about some aspects of the car he’s still adjusting to, namely the Turbo Light setting which he notes does have a slight delay in responsiveness before it kicks in. Wavy is considering some additional tuning down the line to increase horsepower, not that he’s complaining, the CLS 63 performs magnificently.

He takes it on the road to really open it up, and the acceleration both sounds and performs beautifully brutal. As the V8 thunders down the road, and the car rips through a tunnel at near hyper-speed, the control is exceptional, as is the sound.

Wavy talks a lot throughout the video about the practicalities of Benz ownership; from the fuel efficiency, which is surprisingly good, to cost of insurance, which is a little high at $260 a month, but that is about average for his area of Toronto, Canada.

“Even though this car is kind of expensive, it brings the happiness to me,” Wavy says, smiling as he drives. “Anytime I jump in, I’m just so happy to drive this car.”

Wavy talks about the maintenance, oil changes, and the costs. He will likely need new brake pads down the road, so he’s preparing for that. Wavy thoroughly researched the CLS 63 AMG before he purchased it, and definitely recommends the “S” Power for the added horsepower. He has been getting oil changes about every 4,600 miles, as recommended by his mechanic.

As far as the luxury, it is there in spades. From a drivers seat with a massage function, to the suede interior, it’s a pleasure to drive. Says Wavy, “This is the best car, pound for pound. 10/10 power. 10/10 luxury. And gas mileage is not that that bad for a V8. So, this car is perfect.”

Wavy does a walk around, and the car is definitely sharp as a knife. Wavy has a lift suspension that is also a cool detail. Wavy says, “Whenever it’s up, it’s tank mode. When it’s laying low, sick. I love this.”

Wavy’s final thought is a very enthusiastic thumbs up. “If you’re thinking of getting this, I strongly recommend it. It makes you feel happy.”

It’s a great video with a lot of helpful insights, but the bottom line is a strong one: The best car is the one that you love driving. And if that happens to be a Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG, we definitely wouldn’t blame you!
