2013 Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG Roadster

The Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG Roadster has a delectable Biturbo V8, and even though that engine is hand-built by some suspiciously American-sounding German called “Kevin”, with the SL63 AMG you’re getting one of the greatest Teutonic driving experiences on the planet, which is justified because the as-tested price is $171,225.

A major component of the SL63 AMG’s driving experience is sternum-crushing acceleration. The SL’s 5.5 liters shoves the car down the highway with 530 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. Opt for the performance package and you get a formidable 27 horsepower boost to 557, but a maniacal 74 lb-ft. torque boost to 664. Two more lb-ft and the maniacal would turn devilish.

Zero to 60 as shown in the video below is 4.24 seconds, and that’s a mile above sea level. The great thing about The Fast Lane Car reviews is that they give you a more real-world look at how cars perform as opposed to major magazines that mathematically correct for ideal conditions.
