Rumor: The Maybach Name May Still Live On

Mercedes-Benz S-Klasse (W 222) 2013

Here was the original plan: Daimler AG would shutter the Maybach marque and replace it with a hyper-luxe Mercedes-Benz S-Class marketed as the Pullman.

New reports, however, are indicating the Maybach name may live to see another sunrise as the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Pullman Maybach.

Here’s Why this Rumor Could Be True: When Daimler AG ended Maybach production December 17, 2012 it marked the end of a 10-year attempt to revive the marque that was known to craft some of the finest luxury cars ever produced from 1921 to 1940. With the money Daimler spent to show the world Maybach was a worthy Rolls-Royce and Bentley alternative, it is understandable that they would want to keep the Maybach name alive.

At any rate, the Pullman/Maybach S-Class is expected to make its debut by 2015 … it’s coming, and it will be interesting to see what it is, whatever it’s called.
