SUVs Will Play a Big Role in Future of Mercedes-Benz

It’s clear that the C-Class isn’t the only vehicle that can be credited with helping Mercedes-Benz earn a record sales month in April.

The brand’s GLC shot up 45% from last year’s GLK, pushing Mercedes’ April sales numbers well over its chief rivals in the segment.

Lexus’ SUV sales also increased, but by only 20%. And in contrast, BMW saw a 9.7% decline in its SUV sales, according to CarScoops.

Overall, Mercedes’ vehicle sales increased 0.2% in April, which is a relatively small margin. And yet, it still was enough to put the brand on top of the luxury segment in the U.S.

However, with analysts predicting an even bigger increase in luxury SUV sales in the future, Mercedes could be on the verge of boosting its numbers even more, perhaps on the road to a record-breaking year. ‘
