This drag race, pitting a tuned Nissan 300ZX against a tuned E55 AMG, is just another reason we’re falling deeply in love with the E55 AMG.

At first, I was looking for something with a GM V8…until a buddy of mine pulled up in his CLK55 AMG. After a ride in that, I knew what I had to look for: an AMG. Right now, I’m still looking, but the following video caught my eye, or rather, my ear.

Despite forum member “macko’s” prowess with killing Camaros and giving GT-Rs a run for their money with his 2005 E55 AMG, Macko’s got a bit of a traction issue.

Over the past year, forum member “bstudey01” has been chasing the ever-elusive sub-11-second barrier with his 2003 E55 AMG. After working with a few speed shops and getting what they describe as a “killer race tune”, the car finally managed a 10.85 @ 128 mph.

Poor, unfortunate “pugads650”. He took his E55 to a garage for “a new supercharger bearing belt and miss fire [sic] issue.” It was misfiring, all right – starting in the passenger-side footwell.
