W205 ECU issues and limpmode
I purchased a 2016 c220d w205 9 speed auto from auction, only 60k on clock looked clean and i pad £6k the car starts first time and drive perfect, no smoke, no noise. no eml
here's the issue though:
- i noticed it seemed low on power,
- the kickdown didnt work
- and it wont rev about 2700 rpm.
so heres what ive tried so far
- i have put an endoscope into the dpf, its 100% been gutted,
- I have hooked up a smoke machine to test for boost leaks, there are none,
- ive done a full oil and filter service.
- i have tried driving with the MAP and MAF sensors unplugged, it makes no difference
So ive had an idea, i have been looking on ebay and i can replace the whole ecu set for less than £300, i realise ill have to change everything, even the clock cluster but when i was researching the job Gemini is saying although the car will run and drive, the radio, rear parking camera and front radar sensors wont work, does any know if this is true?
Does any one know any one in the mansfield,/Nottinghamshire area that can restore my ecu back to stock?
is the Merc specialist right in what hes saying about retwoing it without replacing DPF will make it not start?
Please guys any other ideas or advise before i go all nuclear and replace the whole ecu modules?
oh one last thing that stood out on my scanner, i saw this in one of the live feeds if it helps anyone "Torque limitation by component or function value normal/mode smoke limit"
agian sorry for the long post
Rich

You can do that with any Win11 laptop and a 15$ Openport interface.
Car received all that Off's because the previos owner did not find a technician to repair the incipient defective component. They do Off for no reason, as the initial defect remain not repaired.
So, after origianl SW in place, diag the car with any Xentry system if you are ready to understand the difference between reading Fault Codes and doing diag with step by step written in plain english and explained in full repair what you want/can repair, or use a tech that can do that.
For the rest, you can use any tuner to do any nonsense Off based on original file.
what you suggested above is exactly what im hoping to achieve, return the car to stock, diagnose any faults, repair them and then when everything is fixed find a reputable mapper to sort the DPF and AdBlue issues out.
You said i can flash the ECU back to stock myself using a £15 interface? i was under the impression to return the ECU to stock i would need access to Mercedes servers to down loan the files?
I have several highend laptops capable of running most software, if you could just give me a few pointers in the right direction then im more than happy to try doing it myself, ideally if you know the type of interface i would need to hook up the laptop that would actually work ill get one ordered tonight, and as for the flashing side of things im guessing from what you have said i dont need a Mercedes account?
Thanks for your help mate
i know site rules probably prevent you from saying where I can find the files I need for the flashing but I’m prettty sure I know where I can get those from so can you recommend the best software to use to flash the ecu?
hopefully I’ll be able to get the laptop and software setup tonight and the cable delivered tomorrow!
happy days, thank you so much
thats my intention mate, ive got a clean laptop out ready, going to try and find a copy of DTS monaco tonight and get it all set up then hopfully my J2534 cable will arrive tomorrow. The first thing i want to try and figure out is how to actually make a backup of my ECU, if i can do that and have a backup i can reinstall if things go wrong ill be a little more confident in experimenting with my ECU but thanks to your posts at least i know it can be done. Worst case shenario i guess ill just have to buy a new car

Many thanks

Chinese use the generic Date as SW reference, like Bootloader 12/06 001. This is true, but from here there are several different SW version, for Sprinter, Vito, etc....That's why there is under 6% chances to do MB with Chinese expensive tools.
If you read again post #10 ...
One more hint, in the real world 12/06 001 for your VIN is named A6519040900
