In a game of one-upmanship, Mercedes released the S-Models to silence would-be challengers to the “normal” AMG cars. As if a 560 horsepower E-class sedan would be too boring. Nevertheless, the E63 AMG S-Model boasts of 585 horsepower, so the benchmark that is (was?) the M5 really has its work cut out for it.

That the latest E63 AMG is a superlative car is already a given, having 560 on tap in a “family” sedan. German car enthusiasts know that Mercedes is pitting this car squarely against Audi and BMW. Many may disagree, but the latest iteration of AMG’s mid-size hammer is the best looking of the current super sedans. With gaping intakes at the front and an engine note that can come only from a large V8, this ersatz family car will scare more than small kids.

Reports indicating that the enhanced model of the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG will offer a modified 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system with a torque distribution of 67 / 33 (rear /front axle) were found to be accurate. According to AMG chief executive Ola Källenius, this will give new AMG model improved handling and will make it faster on the track compared to the RWD design. In comparison, the normal E-Class models with feature a 4MATIC system with a torque split of 55/45.
