When it comes to mileage, this has to be some kind of record for a Mercedes-Benz. If not, we certainly would like to know who the other contenders are for most miles logged in a Mercedes.

Then again, we imagine that a vehicle with over 800,000 miles on the original engine and transmission would probably be considered a winner in any automotive circle, which is why we’re so drawn to this 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300E featured in an Art of Gears report.

The story of the 300E built on the W124 platform is a carmaker’s dream, given what it says about the durability of a brand.

Apparently, the only thing that stopped the car from reaching the one-million mark is the fact that the owner purchased a 2013 C300, according to an older Reddit post by the owner’s son.
