Top 10 Racing Movies List Is Blatantly Incorrect

By -

This video detailing the best racing movies ever is dead wrong, and we’re here to set the record straight.

First of all, there is no universe in which Sylvester Stallone’s half-assed, ostensibly motorsport-based waste of film reel, Driven, belongs in a list of top 10 anything. Certainly not racing movies. That is among the worst films we’ve ever seen, in the history of all films, not just racing ones. While that movie does make use of actual in-race footage to fill out its run time, there is so little of it grounded in reality that it’s laughable. It’s almost as bad as that one “street racing” episode of CSI Miami that you probably forgot about. Heck, even Disney’s Herbie The Love Bug is better.

Top 10 Racing Movies List Is Blatantly Incorrect

Aside from that one glaring flaw, the rest of the list lacks continuity, stacking motorsport documentaries up against dramas, and even comedies. That gives the list a lack of uniformity. We would have liked to have seen the top 10 racing documentaries as well as the top 10 racing films, rather than smashing them both together into the same list.

Our third problem stems from the fact that Donut Media‘s order is all out of whack. Anyone who thinks Days of Thunder should rank above Talladega Nights is flat out wrong. Anyone who thinks either of those are better than Rush needs to go back and watch them all again. Le Mans is placed above Grand Prix? Come on, the Porsches do more acting in that film than Steve McQueen does. The overall #1 movie here, in their opinion, is Senna, which may be a good documentary, but is certainly flawed in its own right.

Here’s just a small list of racing-related films that Donut Media implies do not rank as high as Driven: The Fast And The Furious, Stroker Ace, Initial D, Cannonball Run, Truth in 24, Love the Beast, 24 Hour War, or even Pixar’s Cars. Come on, guys, you can do better than this.
