My last day as an owner

I have thoroughly enjoyed my E55 and being a member of this forum. But I admit to missing the sportiness of a manual transmission and I am trading in today for a C6 coupe. I got a good price from my local dealer and they even worked with a Chevy dealership to get me the exact car I wanted and not have to pay taxes. Never did a deal like this before but I'm very happy.

Enjoy the new wheels.
I'm not sure that I could comfortably exist in that small cabin ... but performance may make up for it.

Can't argue with that...C6 is sweet.

Best of luck with it.

They didn't tempt you with a Z06? Good luck and be safe.

Jeez, what kind of trade did they give you on your 55? I mean, MSRP of the C6 Coupe is around $45,000.00 and you paid $80,000+ for your 55. If I wanted a C6, I would have made sure before I bought the 55. Of course, who needs a C6 when you have a Viper...

C6 Z06 won't be available for a while.

You should have done what I did, keep the Benz for a family car and have the Vette for fun. I'm on my 3rd MB since I bought my Vette.

It was tough because both my wife and I loved the E55. Heck, our family and friends loved it. I loved every minute behind the wheel. I could afford it, but we have other debts that were not being paid down quickly enough. I'm 58, so closer to retirement than a lot of you guys and just thought it would be wise to lower my payments. And again, having owned Mustangs and a BMW and a 500 HP 1986 Porsche Turbo, I missed a stick more and more. I had always been curious about Vettes but never pursued one. I test drove one and loved it. I'm 6'1" and have no trouble with the cabin. The Z06 would be great, but I don't race and making this car go faster is something lots of aftermarket companies would be hapy to assist me with. Yes, I took a beating selling it so fast. I had it appraised at several Chevy dealerships and I was getting 64-65. The Benz dealership came back with $72,000 and offered to help me get the Vette and avoid taxes. Everything in life is a trade off. I bit the bullet, but lowered my car payments more than half. Yes, it is a Chevy, not a Mercedes Benz. I had a C32 and an E55 so I'm well aware of the differences. But I'll try not to let it bother me as I punch through the gears with the targa roof off on a sunny day.

Hey!!! Great news!

I too had a C32 and then an 03 E55 and NOW a C6!

Also, no one buys a C6 for 45k stripped you jerk. The coupe medium optioned is around $52,000. Also a Viper SUCKS for daily and even weekend driving. I know, I have owned one. Look at the most recent comparo in the mags you mo. C6 Rules the road right now.

The C6 is quiet and a great daily driver.

Look me up on the http://corvetteforum.com/ My user name is FLC6.

Take care and to MBAMGPWR and E320Star

Great choice, the C-6 is a beautiful car. I owed a couple of C4's in the 90s so I am partial to vettes.. You wont regret making the change, after I test drove the new vette I was ready to buy one. Unfortunately for me upper management nixed that..

Hmm, sounds familiar. In October, I picked up a new leftover 2003 Z06 for $38000 and after about $6000 in mods it has 400 rwhp, weighs 3100 lbs and will be track ready soon(still need CCW rims/racing slicks). Who needs a 2006 C6 Z06 for $65,000+?

Thanks for approaching your response with such professionalism! I wasn't attacking nor taking shots at his choice in vehicles. I had a C5 Coupe and loved the heck out of it. I just simply asked what kind of a hit he took in trade, and he answered it without calling me a "jerk" or giving me the middle finger.

I think you may have some issues to deal with yourself...

Chill, using your logic why would you even spend $38000 on a Z06... you could have bought an '01 for even less and had more left over for mods...

I am on the waiting list for a C6 Z06 for a number of reasons, one being I think it looks a lot better and more modern than the C5, another being a 427ci motor backed by GM and not a tuner, something fresh you won't see everyday (for a while at least), the interior is much improved, the widebody, etc, etc. I could go on and on as to why I wouldn't consider a C5 Z06 but the point is that not everything boils down to money... it's a matter of overall value when taking everything into consideration - and I think people should be respected and not questioned for their choices.

EWCIII2001,

Congrat's

Did you get it already? Get the F55 suspension if you haven't, it's worth every penny and you'll love it. In Touring it soaks up all the bumps, in Sport... let her rip.

What color? Pictures please.

BTW, the C6 is a big improvement over the C5 or last generation of Vette Interior wise and in many peoples eye's, exterior to. Quality is way up. If you guys get the chance, drive one.

Can't wait for the new C6 Z06 to hit the showrooms!

Well, it's something I guess any dealership could do. My friend did it when getting his Vette a few years ago. You sell your car back to the dealership, or any dealership that sells your car and is liking to give you top dollar(this one was local and not where I bought my car). They find you the car you want(for this one I cruised the web and found it for them an hour and 45 away). Then, I THINK the way it works is that they buy the car from the other dealership and sell it to you. I think that's how it works cause my salesman went and picked it up and mentioned giving them a check...and they ixnayed my offer to go pick it up myself. Thus, no taxes cause it's like a straight trade.

I guess you mean the magnetic selective. Yes, I did. I won't get into the whole story, but the short version is that I was intent on the Z51 package but could find no car anywhere near me in lemans blue with Z51 and NO navigation. I wanted the 6 disc stereo and with nav you get single disk. But this particular dealership had the options I wanted with the F55 so I went for it. The Z51 is hot. Most cars seem to come with it. But it's a rougher ride and I'm not Dr. Chill. My visits to the track involve trying to acquire the best seat in the stands. I was carried away with the performance aspect but glad I got what I did. I DO like a fast car...which I have...and which I can now improve on. As for pics, I'd love to but don't know how to. Was never able to figure out to post any E55 pics.
