***CHECK IT OUT...decided to do some custom caliper painting :)***
aright so i got bored friday morning and decided to finally go thru with some custom caliper painting b/c i dont like the dull grey metal look. I decided to go with the white to match my car with the black decals in "Mercedes-Benz" font cleared over. i didnt want to do red or crazy colors b/c im going for the clean look, but kinda sporty and figured this would be the best route that would look nice. tell me what you guys think..i threw in some pics of my diffuser mod b/c i jus recently had the muffler painted black so its more uniform now.. and a front end shot..i know i know she needs a drop and some new wheels haha...its coming in due time..!

Nice! I was thinking of doing something like that since I first got my car, but couldnt find that decal! Where did you get it? Will it hold up to the heat?

yea i used the G2 brake kit, in white of course. its a 2 step process which requires a activator to be mixed in with the paint. i painted them on friday and let them dry. they are easily cleanable i actually drove on em the same day and wiped em clean today. the decals i had to have made by a vinyl shop here in town. i measured the lettering and he actually had the exact "mercedes" style font from a picture and created it from that template. so it is exactly the same lettering as the factory brake is. i put the lettering on today, 2 days after i let them cure. then brushed on a light clear coat over the lettering about 2 thin coats covering all the letter edges. it should hold up well, the brake paint is resistant up to 950 degrees. but overall im happy and think when i get some forged grey/black wheels its gonna look awesome.

Looks great!!!!
Where are you located?
Also did you take apart the brakes or simply painted them while attached? I have been looking at doing something like this on my car for a while now but i am the most incapable person when it comes to stuff like this.
FYI i believe they sell the mercedes stickers specific for brakes on ebay.

i painted em right on the car..jus jacked each side up and removed the wheels, its a brush on paint so not really sloppy, but its hard to get a even coat..u jus gotta be patient. i tried looking on ebay but they only had the AMG decal...and im no poser..
i live in norcal, near stockton/modesto.

Solid, looks real good. I wonder how hard it is going to be to clean them.
I have the AMG BBK, and I am getting some chipping at the corners. Generally I clean my brakes and wheels every week with a bottle brush, so I may be helping the process.

i believe the paint has ceramic in it, so ther for it hardens and is easy to wipe off brake dust that does not adhere to the caliper, i had done this to my honda but in red, and they stayed bright all year long.

I used G2 Paint system on my old 04 350Z and it came out great, it lasted for over a year before I sold the car, it is a 2 step process like mentioned but it goes on like it was sprayed on.

i think the stickers should be okay...the paint in which they are applied on withstands heat up to 950 degrees...after a night of driving i touched my calipers and they really werent that hot...and i clear coated over the stickers so it should hold up for a while..ill see what happens when i wash it..but it should be jus fine...

very unique, matches the car very well i might say
i would be worried about the dirt showing thru the white painted calipers. i had a white car adn decided to get white rims as well to match. and well...its no fun cleaning them every week

Won't the dust show more now on white calipers. BTW, I installed the Akebono ceramic pads on my kids SLK230 and after a full week, zero dust. Actually the rear wheels with MB pads looked terrible in comparison.

the calipers and paint are holding up jus as good as the day i did them, they are really dirty right now cause of the winter months passing thru, but when i wash my car and clean them, theyre as good as new.
the caliper stickers i had to have a tuner shop, who had a vinyl sticker maker, custom do them, luckily they had the Mercedes-Benz logo saved so it came out the exact same as the factory looked. i guess i got real lucky, b/c good luck trying to get this done or find somewhere thats gonna have that font. it was a real pain in the ****, even unpicking the letters..
moderators: a link popped up in my post that was saying "www.practicaljokeblahblahblah./winner" or something...wth is that? lol, i edited and deleted it.
